Laolu Senbanjo

 I was fortunate enough to meet this great Nigerian Artist, while living in Abuja. His work captivates the very essence of African culture which reflects strong aspects of his own Yoruba heritage. Laolu has always had a great interest in making art that forces the individual to think about what is taking place within the portrait, each one of his art works tells a story that can be interpreted in a million ways. I found this to be quite fascinating, having attended his exhibition in Abuja, I was able to learn a lot about this creative young man who used his art to tell stories.

 Laoulu is hardworking, dedicated and determined young man who is also  a very talented Guitar player, as I have witnessed. Aside from his art works Laolu is also a recording artist, now I was lucky to have recorded a duet with him while in Abuja, as I used to sing in my past.What a great honour it was for me to sing side by side by this talented young man, he has also inspired me to work hard towards my own aspirations. Laolu explained that all of his art and music everything has a deeper meaning to him. He is very skilled in song writing, the lyrics of his songs are just so special, listening to his music in depth brought out my own raw emotions. I believe that when an artist can tap into people's inner feelings and emotions that is truly great.

I always enjoy listening to Laolu's music as I believe the lyrics are strong and bewitching. I feel mesmerized by the rhythm, the softness and the tone of his voice is simply irresistible.

Here is a photo of Laolu and I at his exhibition.

 Down below are a few of his Art works;

Aside from all this he is also  a Human Rights Lawyer, who graduated from the Nigerian Law School. This young man has followed his dream of becoming an artist and will only move forward from here. He has had a very successful exhibition at the Jamaican High Commission in Abuja, Nigeria. He will also be traveling to the Caribbean, where he will be holding an exhibition, in Kingston, Jamaica in the near future. I am confident to say that I believe Laolu's music in Jamaica will be greatly appreciated.  Laolu has been exhibiting his Art across the world in places such as Germany and the USA.
